Degrees Modelling Fund at the AGU

11.12.2019

In mid-December, SRMGI (The Degrees Initiative) supported the South Africa DMF team to present their work to the American Geophysical Union fall meeting in San Francisco. Based in a city that nearly ran out of water during a recent drought – Cape Town – the South Africa team is researching how SRM might affect temperatures and the hydrological cycle.

Dr Izidine Pinto, a climate modeler from Mozambique, traveled to AGU to present research that has just been submitted for publication. It models extremes of temperatures and precipitation across the entire African continent, and so will provide useful modeling research well beyond Southern Africa alone.
