The Degrees Modelling Fund
The Degrees Modelling Fund (DMF) provides grants to research teams in developing countries and emerging economies, allowing them to analyse the impacts that solar radiation modification (SRM) might have in their regions. To get an idea of the DMF studies to date, see the full list here.
Eligibility
In this special call for proposals, applicants must (1) be based in areas where we currently do not have active projects and (2) be sponsored by the Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) of an eligible DMF team, who will apply with them as a team member or Co-PI.
What if the applicant does not have an existing relationship with a sponsor?
Interested eligible scientists who are from and based in one of the priority regions listed below but do not have an existing relationship with a potential sponsor are encouraged to submit a brief statement of interest and their CV to the Degrees Initiative before 29 January through this form, describing their interest in SRM research (what they would like to do, how, with whom, and why).
The Degrees Initiative will review these statements of interest internally. If appropriate, we will inquire whether an eligible PI or Co-PI is willing and able to sponsor the applicant. Should this process move forward, we will provide further guidance to shortlisted individuals on the next steps. Individuals who do not have an existing relationship with a DMF team should not contact teams directly to request sponsorship.
While we welcome applications from new countries in line with the eligibility criteria, we are particularly interested in reaching new regions. Applications from countries within the regions listed below may be prioritised during the evaluation process:
