Five Global South SRM experts join DMF research collaborator programme

Degrees is delighted to welcome five leading SRM modellers from the Global South as research collaborators for our new DMF research projects. Their addition marks an important milestone in our mission to build a global community of SRM experts.

The research collaborator programme pairs new SRM teams with experienced SRM modellers and it has been central to the successes of the Degrees Modelling Fund (DMF). The research collaborators help the teams get access to SRM modelling data and understand SRM modelling scenarios and approaches. In turn they get to learn more about local climate impact modelling. All the collaborators are unpaid and work on a purely voluntary basis because they believe in Degrees’ mission and enjoy the collaborative experience.

The five new research collaborators are:

Bala is one of the most experienced SRM modellers in the world and we were delighted when he joined the ranks of DMF scientists earlier this year. Inés, Khalil, Chris and Babatunde started working on SRM when they received DMF funding in 2018 and welcoming these four scientists as collaborators marks an important milestone towards achieving our mission. Since working with Degrees, they have all become leading SRM experts in their regions, and it means a huge amount to us that they have agreed to help the new teams.

We welcome them all to the programme, thank them for volunteering their time, and look forward to learning more from this growing global community of SRM modelling experts.
