Dr Atiq Rahman

Dr Rahman is a leading environment and development specialist with wide national and international experience and involvement in sustainable development, climate change, environment and resource management, poverty and equity, disaster management, people’s participation, and global governance. He has emerged as a leading spokesperson and Southern voice on climate change, adaptation, mitigation, climate justice, South-North collaboration and geo-engineering issues globally, regionally, and nationally. Besides, he is the Executive Director of the Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS), a leading think tank in Bangladesh and South Asia on resource management, climate change, environment, and sustainable development. He was Team Leader of the Climate Change National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA) Synthesis, Bangladesh. He was awarded the Champion of The Earth award by UNEP in 2007 for his contribution to UNFCCC and IPCC processes as Coordinating Lead Author until AR5.
