Abolfazl Rezaei

Associate Professor
Department of Earth Sciences, IASBS

Abolfazl is an Associate Professor of Hydrogeology at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) in Zanjan, Iran. His research focuses on hydrogeology and climate–water interactions, with specific expertise in groundwater flow and solute transport modeling, aquifer-system deformation, and land subsidence.

Beyond traditional subsurface studies, Abolfazl investigates the impacts of climate variability and climate engineering—specifically Stratospheric Aerosol Injection (SAI)—on water resources. His work also explores the influences of large-scale ocean–atmosphere circulation on hydroclimatic extremes.

His research has been supported by various national and international funding agencies, including the Iran National Science Foundation (INSF), TWAS–UNESCO, and regional water authorities.
