SRMGI (The Degrees Initiative) was pleased to support to the Sixth International Geoengineering Governance Summer School, held in Banff, Canada, in August. The school was organised by Prof. Ted Parson and colleagues at UCLA, and the SRMGI/Degrees funding helped them meet their goals of strong representation from the Global South.
Participants from Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Philippines, Kenya, Iran, India and China spent a week working with their colleagues from Europe and North America, grappling with the thorny governance issues raised by the prospect of deliberate climate intervention. Thanks to Ted and his UCLA colleagues for a great event and for putting developing world engagement at the centre of the summer school plans.
