The Paris Peace Forum is a high-level annual gathering that supports international cooperation to address global problems. In 2021, the Degrees initiative was chosen as one of ten Scale-Up projects of the Peace Forum, receiving a year of tailored advice and support that was invaluable during the transformation into an independent NGO. We were also invited to attend the 2022 Forum in person.
In addition to a booth showcasing our work, Degrees representative appeared on several panels, including:
- ‘Neutralising the social footprint of climate policies’ – round table, Francois Pougel (DI Director of Programmes)
- What can be done if—and when—global warming exceeds the Paris Agreement goals?’ – panel, Andy Parker (DI CEO)
- ‘Inspiring solutions to steps forward’ – panel, Ines Camilloni (Degrees Modelling Fund principal investigator, Argentina
- ‘Climate Overshoot Dialogues’ – roundtable, Andy Parker and Ines Camilloni
We are grateful for the partnership of the Paris Peace Forum over the last year, and for the guidance of our volunteer mentors as part of the Scale-Up programme:
Paulina Murphy – Engagement Director, World Benchmarking Alliance
Michel Jarraud – Secretary General Emeritus, World Meteorological Organization (WMO)
Matt Reed – CEO and global Director of Institutional Partnerships, Aga Khan Foundation UK
