Roy Dorgeless Ngakala
Roy Dorgeless Ngakala is a researcher in physical oceanography at Institut national de Recherche en Sciences Exactes et Naturelles (IRSEN), Republic of Congo. Roy holds a PhD from Université d’Abomey-Calavi (UAC), Benin. His research focuses on the dynamics of the Congolese Upwelling System, situated in the southern Gulf of Guinea. He combines observations and numerical models to study mixed-layer processes, ocean and atmosphere interactions, physical-biogeochemistry coupling, and the influence of the Congo River plume (ocean and continental interactions). He employs a range of data sources, including satellite, in-situ, and reanalysis data, as well as climate simulations, to assess how future changes could affect upwelling, ocean circulation, stratification, and productivity. His work informs regional fisheries and coastal resilience strategies.
