Mauricio Uriona Maldonado is an expert in energy and transport, with a strong focus on the global energy transition. Holding a PhD and a Master’s in Knowledge Engineering and Management from UFSC, he now applies his expertise to solar radiation modification (SRM), also known as solar geoengineering. As an Associate Professor in Production Engineering at UFSC, he leads research at the intersection of climate modeling and the socio-political impacts of SRM, integrating tools from systems thinking, system dynamics, and computational simulation. In addition, he directs a key international research project, driving Brazil, South Africa, and India to position themselves strategically on the issue of SRM.
