A new report is now available from the Multilateral Simulation Workshop on the Governance of Solar Radiation Modification (SRM), held 16–17 October 2025 in Bogotá, Colombia. The workshop, co-organised by the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), The Degrees Initiative, and the Alliance for Just Deliberation on Solar Geoengineering (DSG), brought together government representatives and researchers from across Latin America and the Caribbean to explore the science, ethics and governance of SRM, also known as solar geoengineering.
The workshop was the third meeting in a series and the first to be held in person. Participants engaged in a hypothetical SRM governance simulation to discuss priorities, ethical dilemmas and governance challenges, with Degrees-funded researchers presenting and advising on the latest regional science.
The report offers insights on building capacity, linking science and policy, and fostering informed, equitable discussions on SRM in Latin America and the Caribbean.
