Dr Syed is the Managing Director of C4RE Ltd. and C4RE International, with over 30 years of experience in forestry, climate, and environmental risk assessment, adaptation, and program execution. His research focuses on complex numerical and geospatial modeling of ecosystems, water resources, relative sea level, and salinity intrusion. He specializes in soft-flood risk management with nature-based solutions and is scaling up the “sponge city” concept in Bangladesh. Current work includes assessing the impact of Solar Reflection Modification (SRM) on aquifer systems and hydrology. Dr. Syed was a Lead Author for Bangladesh’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and Environmental Management Guidelines, and he uses geospatial sciences extensively. He also led the effort to declare the Al-Dhakira mangrove in Qatar as a Nature Park.
